Organized activities of Physiotherapists (also Occupational Therapists) in Croatia started with foundation of Society of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists of Croatia, November 25th, 1956. First President of the Society was Maria - Luisa Betlheim. Legal follower of the Society is today's Croatian Association of Physiotherapists (CAP).

Croatian Society of Physiotherapists (CSPT) was founded at March 10th 2000 as a second national organization of PT’s. Its goal is to foster advancements in physiotherapy education, practice and research.

CSPT publishes two journals: Fizioinfo as an informative journal and Physioterapia Croatica as a professional – scientific journal, and professional books.

CSPT works through following professional societies:

• Croatian society of sport physiotherapy
• Croatian society of manual therapy
• Croatian society of physiotherapy students
• Croatian society of management in physiotherapy
• Croatian society of neurophysiotherapy
• Croatian society of respiratory physiotherapy and noninvasive ventilation
• Croatian society of neonatologic, perinatologic and gynocologic physiotherapy
• Croatian society of scientific study in physiotherapy

CSPT cooperates with Croatian Council of Physiotherapists (highest professional regulatory body with public authorities: registration, licencing and professional control) and other national association – Croatian Association of Physiotherapists.

CSPT completely acknowledge principles and standards which are recommended by a World Confederation of Physical Therapy.
